Meltdown 2014: Healthier Together

Ten years ago sixteen-hundred Nevada County residents came together to participate in a countywide exercise and friendly weight-loss competition where over eight thousand pounds were lost during the Nevada County Meltdown. Event organizer Jon Katis and a group of community members are ready to try it again, but not just focus on weight-loss. Along with a website and facebook page, Meltdown 2014: Healthier Together has an app to help track your progress.

Katis, from the Sierra Nevada County Health Plan, says the 2014 will have at least two phases. Phase 1 runs from May 10th to July 4th. Phase Two begins in August in an attempt to bring in the schools.

Another difference between Meltdown 2014 and the original Meltdown is the connection with free resources  for participants  as well as incentives from health clubs and trainers.

Katis wants to get all the information about what’s available to lead a healthier lifestyle on one web site.
Meltdown 2014: Healthier Together kicked off May 10th but you can still sign up to participate.
