Memorial Day at Memorial Park Celebration

A large crowd gathered at Memorial Park Monday morning to honor those members of the military that were killed while serving their country. Event Master of Ceremonies, American Legion Post 130 Commander Claude Hessel was overwhelmed by the community support

Many of the attendees were remembering a lost family member. One woman was there honoring multiple uncles who served.

Others didn’t serve themselves but were honoring those that have.

Supervisor Dan Miller was one of the speakers. Himself a veteran, was fortunate to never see combat, but understanding the significance of those that did- and those that died fighting.

The crowd of well over 100 listened to the speakers, celebrated the various branches of the US military, listened to inspirational music, witnessed a 7 rifle, 3-shot volley, representing a 21 gun salute, and gave a moment of peace and respect as taps and amazing grace were played.
