Memorial Day in Nevada City

Memorial Day events honoring Americans fallen soldiers began Monday morning in Pioneer Park in Nevada City. Approximately 100 citizens were on hand as the flag was lowered to half-mast, touching remarks were made, and honorary 3 gun salute, TAPS and flyover took place. US Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran, Skip Rankin, provided opening remarks on behalf of Vietnam Veterans War Post 2655 of Nevada City an a number of other veteran organizations.

30 year Navy Veteran and County Supervisor Nate Beason attended this morning’s ceremony and is pleased without how the event has grown over the years.

Following the presentation there was a military salute.

Memorial Day events continued later in the morning at the Grass Valley Veteran’s Building with additional presentations honoring America’s fallen heroes.
