MIM’s Young Composers Concert

Music In the Mountains Young Composers have been working hard all year to create some truly exceptional music. Now it’s time for them to present it to the public. Mark Vance has been their teacher.

During the year students also embarked on a special interdisciplinary curriculum with Animal Place, to gain inspiration for their music…. located on 600 acres in Grass Valley Animal Place provides refuge to hundreds of neglected farmed animals. Kaia Smith wrote her music for a Wind Quintet and its based on the life of a young hen born into a commercial hatchery who is  rescued.

World class professional musicians will play music created by the 23 students in the Young Composers program. The final performance is tonight at Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley  beginning at 7:30 p.m.
