Miners to Host McQueen Friday

Nevada Union High School’s first football game of the year was supposed to be on the road, but Friday’s game against McQueen has been moved from Reno to Grass Valley. Smoke from the Rim Fire, burning near Yosemite has made the Reno air unhealthful for the last several days. The school district canceled all outdoor activities for most of the week, and quick negotiations between the two schools got the game moved. Nevada Union Athletic Director Steve Pilcher says there’s still a chance the game could be canceled–depending on the air quality in Grass Valley…

N-U will get to keep all their ticket revenue. Pilcher says they are still looking for officials for the game. The Miners freshman game is scheduled to start at 3pm, the Junior Varsity at 5, and the varsity game at 7:15 Friday night.
