Minor Arrested for Shoplifting Alcohol-Threatening Officer

A minor who was caught shoplifting a bottle of Vodka from a downtown Grass Valley grocery store is in custody on additional charges after threatening an officer. Grass Valley Police Lt. Steve Johnson says she almost got away.

A patrol officer located her in front of the Grass Valley Library on Mill St. and detained her. She was refusing to give any of her information and was extremely belligerent and uncooperative. Then some other officers who arrived to help knew her on sight from dealing with her before and identified her as 18 year old Grass Valley resident Sara Cummings.

Once en route to the jail Cummings made several specific threats to kill the officer and hunt down his family.

Cumming was arrested for misdemeanor charges of a minor in possession of alcohol, shoplifting, obstructing a police officer, and a felony charge of making criminal threats to an officer.
