Mis-labled Package and Drugs in Cereal Box Catch Law Enforcement Attention

A returned package from New York has law enforcement looking for the original sender. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says a package was returned to a community on the San Juan Ridge. Royal says community members were unable to locate the original sender. The package was opened and candy and two bags of marijuana were found inside.

Sheriff’s Deputies are trying to contact the original sender.

In a separate incident, a local couple was apparently trying to create a new meaning for frosted mini-wheat cereal. Sheriff Keith Royal says a deputy saw 50 year old Garrett Woodgrift along with a female passenger in a pickup at the intersection of Dog Bar Road and La Barr Meadows Wednesday morning. The deputy knew Woodgrift had a warrant for his arrest and initiated a traffic stop. While searching the truck, the Sheriff says the deputy located a box of Frosted Mini Wheat cereal and found a plastic bag with suspected methamphetamine inside.

The truck belonged to the passenger 31 year Megan Hernandez. Both she and Woodgrift were determined to be under the influence of methamphetamine. When the Deputies went to Woodgrift’s home they found a tortilla chip bag also with a plastic bag with suspected methamphetamine inside.  Both people were taken into custody for drug related charges and violation of probation.
