Missing Woman’s Vehicle Located

A search for a missing woman may have come to a tragic end. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says a person riding a motorcycle found a car off Burlington Ridge Road near Skillman Flat Campground late Monday night. When deputies arrived they were able to confirm the car was registered to 74 year old Wilma Barnhart of Grass Valley. The Sheriff says the initial investigation has shown the car became high centered on a log at the end of the road. The Sheriff says a body was found in the car, and steps are being taken to determine a positive identification.

A very tragic ending for Wilma Barnhart. My heart goes out to her family.

I have known Wilma since I was about 10. She used to come into the shop my family owned to visit my mother. When my mother passed, I hadn't seen Wilma in years. She had no trouble recognizing me.
She was a wonderful, sweet lady and she will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
It troubles me that she died alone, but knowing that she was not hurt by anyone helps.
May she rest in peace. She is in good company, with my mother, brother and other family members. Sleep well Wilma, rest peacefully.
