Moon Announces Run For Sheriff

A 27 year veteran of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department is announcing that she is running for the top job. Captain Shannan Moon says she will officially announce her candidacy for sheriff with a campaign kickoff at Ol’ Republic Brewery tomorrow afternoon. In a news release, Moon is advocating for a more modern and transparent community policing model. Former Grass Valley Police Chief John Foster is also running for Sheriff in 2018, and wrote in a news release that he “looks forward to engaging with her on the campaign trail”. Sheriff Keith Royal has indicated that he will not run for a sixth term.
