Harris says return travel traditionally is more staggered because a lot of people who go away for Christmas are back home before New Year’s, but she adds that’s a little harder to predict this year. According to the survey, of the 12-million Californians who travel, 11-million of them will be doing so by car–a two percent increase over last year.
