More Mental Health Services Could Reduce Crime

A repeat offender in the Grass Valley area needs more help than just incarceration. Grass Valley Police Captain Rex Marks says that the behavior of a recent suspect who stole Pringle’s potato chips and is often reported for other misdemeanor crimes is proof that mental health services are in short supply.

Though Nevada County does implement Laura’s Law mandating mental health care for individuals that are a physical threat or considered a danger to others; it does not cover non-violent offenders needing assistance.
