More PGE Tree Flyovers This Week

Another round of low flyovers to spot dead and dying trees are scheduled this week by PG and E, starting today, to reduce fires and power outages. They’re being conducted through Thursday, between 8am and 4pm, plus another one the following Tuesday, August 1st. Last year, PG and E conducted second patrols on 68,000 miles of power lines. This year they expect to fly over 73,000 miles, with about 10,000 of those miles by helicopter. Merlo says removal of hazardous trees can be challenging…

Communities in Nevada County that will be covered include Lake of the Pines, Lake Wildwood, Rough and Ready, and Bridgeport. Merlo says more patrols are scheduled through September and possibly into October, depending on weather conditions.
