Yup, the check engine light in my car came on a week before the registration was due, and this was a smog check year. Lucky Me! I really enjoy driving this car, it gets me 31 to 33 mpg depending on the time of year, it’s paid for, and the annual registration bottomed out a long time ago.
But that merry little light means I will be spending more money on the car that I want to. A Lot more, it seems that the catalytic converter needs to be replaced. Okay, I like breathing clean air as much as the next person, and I will spend the money to get it done, because it’s way cheaper than buying a new, or newer, car!
I think auto makers should be a little more honest with that check engine light. Mine is orange colored. Nothing bad in this world is orange colored, unless you count that lady who took her 5 year old in to the tanning booth with her! I mean that woman has a problem that as way deeper than her parenting skills… Orange is a great color, I grow oranges, and drink orange juice! Orange is the national color of The Netherlands where my daughter and her family live! What could go wrong with an orange light???? Red – That could be a problem! But Orange?
That little light should be green! Because, when it comes on, that’s the color you are gonna see the most of, green. As if shifts from your hand to the mechanic’s hand.
