More Vegetation Management Money For NID

Non-herbicide alternatives being looked at include grazing goats, weed tarping, hand cleaning by crews, and mechanical cleaning tractors at its 474 miles of canals. Scherzinger says this vegetation restricts flows and reduces water quality, impacting deliveries and adding costs….

NID says impeded water flow can also increase algae blooms and create breeding grounds for mosquitos. The grant will be formally awarded in March.
