Most of the evacuations have been lifted after the Pleasant Fire forced people from their homes late yesterday afternoon. The Highway Patrol reports advisories have been lifted with the exception of residents who live north of Tyler Foote Road and just east of Highway 49. The fire has burned 250 acres and is listed as only ten percent contained. Four structures have been destroyed.
As you might expect, the Grass Valley Air Attack Base has been instrumental in fighting the fire in the North San Juan area. CalFire Base Commander Jake Sjolund was busy with his forces, both on the Ridge, and a fire burning in Butte County. Sjolund gave our own Jon Katis a briefing last night…
Sjolund also described the fuel types in this ares as well a potential structures that might be affected…
CalFire reports four structures damaged, but Sjolund didn’t know what kind of structures…
Nevada County officials say 223 homes were in the evacuation area.
