Mudslide Closes Interstate 80

Traffic on the Golden Center Freeway is heavier than normal today. Also on Highway 49 in from Auburn and Highway 174 from Colfax. Caltrans spokeswoman Liza Whitmore says that’s because Highway 49 and 20 is serving as a detour from Interstate 80…

Whitmore says crews are working on getting part of the roadway open tonight, but traffic is being stopped Eastbound at Colfax. Expect delays all along the route, and especially just outside of Nevada City at the Highway 49-20 split. Highway Patrol Officers are directing traffic so drivers can make a left turn to stay northbound on 49.
