Name Change Desired For Grass Valley

How would Grand Valley sound to you instead of Grass Valley? That’s what one local man wants to find out. Dave Wilzbach, who’s lived in the city since the 1970’s, says legalization of medical marijuana, resulting in more growths, has spurred what he says has been a longtime desire for a name change..

Wilzbach says he plans to request the change to the Grass Valley City Council at its meeting Tuesday night. He says he has not thought about a petition drive. Grass Valley was incorporated in 1893. Any name change would have to be approved by the government, including the U-S Postal Service.

Grass Valley's name has been made fun of for years, deal with it. As a customer service rep. receiving order letters from inmates across the US, our city name was a constant funny from them. Be proud of the name, unfortunately because of more than needed commercial construction in recent years we've lost a lot of the real green grass we were named for, however, this is still Grass Valley & I'm proud to live here.
