Naming Dorsey Interchange Process To Move Forward

The staff of the Grass Valley public works department has learned that it will take multiple steps in order to officially name the Dorsey Drive Interchange in honor of US Ambassador Chris Stevens who was slain in Libya on September 11. Director of Public Works, Tim Kiser, explains what the City plans to do.

One concern is that the current bridge on Dorsey Drive that spans the Golden Center Freeway is already named in honor a Vietnam era soldier, Thomas Cranford.

The plan is to not change the name of the bridge itself but to include all elements of the interchange in Steven’s memorial.

The council approved public works moving forward knowing that it will take some time to move through the entire process and make sure all stakeholders are included in the decision making process.
