Monday:

On June 6th, 2016, at approximately 9:50 AM, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force executed a criminal marijuana search warrant in the 17000 block of Jones Ridge Road. Upon arriving at the residence, detectives located two subjects who were detained and identified as Brittany Chairez (31) out of Grass Valley and her boyfriend Brandon Carskadon (35) also of Grass Valley.

During the execution of the search warrant, detectives discovered multiple grow sites on the property that included indoors, outdoors and hoop houses. A total of 428 marijuana plants were located on the property in different stages of growth. Also located inside the residence, detectives located approximately 35 pounds of processed marijuana cola, 25 pounds of marijuana shake, a small amount of cocaine, and approximately half a pound of finished honey oil.

Detectives found 3 valid recommendations on site, which included 2 for out of county subjects. Due to the fact there was enough processed marijuana on scene to cover the recommended amount for each recommendation, all 428 plants were eradicated.

Mr. Carskadon who listed his employment as a self-employed landscaper was charged with 11358 H&S (Illegal Cultivation) and Ms. Chairez who listed her employment as unemployed was charged with 11358 H&S (Illegal Cultivation) and 11350 H&S (Possession of a Controlled Substance). Detectives also had a criminal search warrant for this piece of property as well. After following the foot path, detectives located an additional 394 marijuana plants under cultivation.

After interviewing the property owner Jesse Myers it was determined the marijuana under cultivation located on the adjacent property in the 16000 block of Jones Ridge Road belonged to him as well. Thursday:On June 9, 2016, at approximately 5:30 AM, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force hiked into a suspected DTO marijuana grow located off of an NID canal in the area of Houghton Ranch Road in Penn Valley. Once in the garden it was discovered to be in the early stages of development. Detectives located several hundred feet of drip line irrigation feeding 224 marijuana plants under cultivation. There was evidence that more grow areas were being setup as it was still under construction. No suspects were located in the garden, but there was evidence that a living area was being setup. After following the main water source, detectives discovered that the suspects buried the water line underground and were siphoning water from the China Union Canal, which belongs to the Nevada Irrigation District.
