NASCAR History in Grass Valley

A big piece of NASCAR history now resides in Grass Valley and on Saturday you can get up-close-and-personal with it. Owner of Reibe’s Auto Parts, Bart Reibe, recently purchased one of Dale Earnhardt Sr’s race cars that was actually driven in a number of NASCAR events.

IntimidatorEarnhardt Sr. finished 2nd to Rusty Wallace in that historic first nighttime running of the Food City 500. Following the race, team owner Richard Childress, retired the car in race condition. Since1993 the car has only been owned by one other collector who recently sold it to Reibe at auction for a hefty $100,000 dollars.

The Intimidator, a Black #3 Chevy Lumina, with all lof its decals, driven by the Man-in-Black will be on display at the Reibe’s Auto Part Store in Grass Valley, Saturday from 10 AM – 2PM. As part of the celebration, free hot dogs will be available from 11-1 customers can get a free battery check during the event and a free NAPA Basketball with a minimum 25 dollar purchase.
Dale Earnhardt Sr died tragically in a collision with the wall on the front stretch with 3 laps to go in the Daytona 500 on Feb 18 2001.
