It’s been talked about for over eight months, and now it looks like it’s about to become a reality. The Nevada City City Council is expected to adopt an ordinance tonight that would ban plastic bags.

There will be some exemptions, including restaurants, which will still be able to provide the plastic bags until 2016. Tonight will be the second reading of the ordinance, and then a vote. If passed tonight, the ten-cent fee would be enacted in three months.

Good thing I don't shop in Nevada City. I would refuse to pay a ten cent bag charge.If Grass Valley does the same, on grocery stores, I'll ask them to just put items back into shopping cart, and maybe just maybe ask for help out to my car.

I think it's fantastic and wish the entire county would do the same.
It's not hard to save the environment by bringing and reusing your own bags.
