The Nevada City City Council has voted to allow a medical marijuana dispensary inside the city limits, and now the council will be deciding how to go about the permitting process. City Manager Mark Prestwich says a proposal before the council this evening is to have applicants pay fees through each round of negotiations…
There are four proposed phases, with the final applicants having to pay over four thousand dollars if they get to the final round. The idea is to actually have those who are trying to get the permit to run the dispensary to actually save money if they get eliminated from consideration early. Prestwich says if the city council signs off on the idea, phase one could get started in about three weeks…
Ultimately, Prestwich says it’s looking like a dispensary won’t be up and running until after the first of next year. Also at tonight’s meeting, the council is expected to adopt their budget for next year, and approve a small increase in garbage fees. The meeting begins at 6:30 at City Hall.
