It’s being called a win-win situation for everyone. Nevada County has had fewer juvenile offenders, so available beds at the Juvenile Hall are being leased out to other counties.

County Chief Probation Officer Mike Ertola says they have agreements with Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne Counties, which do not have their own juvenile facilities. The agreements have been effect for about three months. Prior to that, underage offenders in those counties were going to facilities in larger counties.

Nevada County is getting paid for housing those offenders, and Ertola says that money stays in the Juvenile Hall.

County officials say that over the months of August through October, the Probation Department has received almost 33-thousand dollars ($32,955) in revenue.
