The Nevada County Historical society has been Celebrating & Preserving the History of Nevada County Since 1944. They have 4 museums in Nevada County including the Searls Historical Library, Nevada County Narrow Gauge Rail Road Museum, Firehouse #1 Museum in Nevada City, and the North Star Mining Museum in Grass Valley. Dan Ketcham is the President of the Historical Society and says all the museums had an open house last weekend.

The Nevada County Historical Society is part of the Big Day of Giving Campaign that’s going on all day today, and co-chair of the campaign, James Ketcham says people can donate on the website: http://www.bigdayofgiving.org/nevadacountyhistory Or they can drop off a donation.

That’s the old National Guard Armory which is now home to the Searls Historical LIbrary. The Historical Society’s Goal is to raise $5,000-dollars.
that they will use to keep their museums open and free to the public..
