Two people who were hugely influential in the struggle for women’s equality and who hale from Nevada City will be the topic of a Readers Theater performance at the Nevada County Historical Society Speaker Night tonight. Bill Trzeciak says he wrote the script about Aaron Augustus Sargent and his wife Ellen Clark Sargent when he was doing some political research.

He returned to Massachusetts, married his childhood sweetheart Ellen Clark Sargent and brought her to live in Nevada City, and they both became hugely influential in the struggle for women’s equality. The program titled “Her Own Quiet Legend: The Sargent’s of Nevada County and Women’s Right to Vote, will be presented by a cast of twelve members of the Lake Wildwood Readers Theatre at The Nevada County Historical Society Speaker Night event this evening at 7p.m. in the Gene Albaugh Community Room at the Madelyn Helling Library in Nevada City It’s free to the public.
