In anticipation of at least one new council member and potentially three, the Nevada City City Council is moving forward with an offical standard for running meetings and handling procedures within council business. City Manager Catrina Olsen says by adopting Rosenberg’s Rules of Orders the city will formalize roles and expectations of city governement. She says the new document ties together multiple pieces that have been put together over many years.
Olsen says Rosenberg’s Rules of Order gives council more control over public comment at meetings.
The new Standards and Procedures also establishes a meeting end-time of 10:30PM.
Vice Mayor Erin Minett was thrilled to see the new document. She was surprised to find no updated handbook when she came onboard in 2018.
The Standards and Procedures were approved 4-0. Council member Duane Strawser was absent.
