Nevada City Bicycle Classic

The 55th Annual Nevada City Bicycle Classic will be held on Father’s Day, this Sunday, June 21st in downtown Nevada City. The Nevada City Classic is one of the premiere sporting events in the Sierra foothills, the largest and oldest bike race on the West Coast, and the second-oldest race in the nation. Race organizer Duane Strawser says there will be 5 races throughout the day including womens pro and mens pro. Shelley Olds the 2009 Classic Winner will be coming from Spain.

Waste Management is one of the sponsors again this year and a new sponsor is Ole’ Republic Brewery of Nevada City.

Ole Republic will also be setting up a beer garden on Pine Street between Commercial and Broad in the same area where 30 vendors will be located.

The Course is the same as always  with the start at mid Broad Street in downtown and continues counter-clockwise on a 1-point 1 mile loop . A kids bicycle parade kicks off at 12:45 and the first race is at 1 o’clock. The women’s pro race is at 3 o’clock and the 90 minute men’s pro race gets underway at 5 pm.
