Nevada City Blanketed By Debris Burn Smoke

Strawser says the source was actually a large residential pile of damp leaves. He says such burns are illegal inside the city limits of Nevada City, as well as Grass Valley, and at least discouraged by the county. But this burn was just outside the city. The Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District encourages people to find alternatives to open burning for vegetation disposal. It was a permissive burn day.
