Nevada City Could See New Parking This Year

Nevada City is proceeding with its plan to add over 150 parking spaces in the downtown area over the next few years. Prestwich says some spaces will be added rather simply by re-striping some areas. Others, that are more complicated like adding a retaining wall in a parking lot to create more room, will require an environmental review and other expenses. While 154 spaces doesn’t sound like a lot, Prestwich says this plan is a lot cheaper, and some would say a lot more appealing, than building a parking structure, which he says would cost over 20-thousand dollars a space…

Prestwich says this plan would provide the spaces at about a third the cost of a parking structure.
