Nevada City Drafts Plastic Bag Ordinance

Nevada City has drafted an ordinance to ban single use paper and plastic bags. The proposal will be up for discussion at the City Council meeting tonight. Restaurants would be exempt. Brennan says public comment will be considered for the next few months, and the ordinance wouldn’t come back to the council for an official first reading until July. People wouldn’t have to pay a bag fee until three months after the ordinance is adopted, or late this year.
