With the locally-grown produce season picking up soon, at least one Farmers’ Market is hoping to continue normal operations, despite coronavirus concerns. Becca Warner, the manager of the Nevada City Farmers’ Market, which is only open in April on the first Saturday, says this will be the first time they’ll be implementing the strict state guidelines. That includes spacing booths at six to ten feet apart. But you won’t be able to inspect items up close…
Vendors are encouraged to wear gloves and masks. They’re also encouraged to have their own hand washing station and sanitizer, but stations will be set up at each of the three entrances. Warner says they’ve been in touch with the Auburn market, which has already been operating under the guidelines…
Other adjustments include having food-only vendors and limiting the number of people in the market at one time, through monitoring each entrance. Starting in May, the Nevada City Farmer’s Market will be open each Saturday. Hours are 9am to noon, they’re in the Three Forks Bakery and Brewing Company parking lot before moving to Union Street for the summer season.
