Nevada City Fire Summary

A quick response to a fire that broke out late afternoon in Nevada City provided full containment by 7:30 PM. The Pasquale Incident was burning in an area east of Nevada City near Pioneer Park. The border area was Caladonia Way, Silva Avenue and Lower Gracie Road. Captain Dave Bookout says the fire first reported a little after 4:30 in heavy brush and timber was initially 3- 5 acres and then grew at a slow to moderate rate.*

Bookout says units will be on scene most of the day today.

The column of smoke from the fire was visible from Grass Valley and other areas of Western Nevada County. A full wildfire response was dispatched including air-tack and 3 air tankers as well as helicopter support. In total eight agencies along with Calfire responded with multiple resources and hand crews. No structures were lost though one as threatened for a short time.
No cause determined and the fire remains under investigation.
