Nevada City will soon have decorative terrazzo lights downtown full time. We told you a couple of months ago that the Chamber of Commerce was fundraising to purchase the lights and also for upkeep and maintenance, and now they’ve raised enough money to buy them. The lights were originally the idea of City Councilmember Reinette Senum to have them up on a temporary basis. She says they’ve had to make modifications to keep them up year-round…
A Go Fund Me page was set up to get private donations. The purchase has been made, they still need to get funding for the installation and maintenance, and Senum says she’s talking to some energy companies about possibly underwriting that part of the project. Senum says most people like the idea of the lights, which are more than just for decoration…
She says that will be done next week (Wednesday). A formal ribbon-cutting or ‘opening ceremony’ kind of thing has not been scheduled yet.
