Nevada City Humanitarian Doctor Mugged In Uganda

A longtime Nevada City doctor and humanitarian is expected to make a full recovery, after a scary attack in Uganda about a week ago. Carol Kellerman says her husband, Scott, has been there since early this month, meeting with new members of their foundation, which assesses the needs of the Batwa Pygmies of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Scott also had some broken teeth. Kellerman says the attackers took everything her husband had on him at the time, including his computer, cell phone, wallet, the change in his pockets, and even his glasses. She says such robberies are not uncommon in that area and many victims are killed…

A CAT scan found no brain damage. Carol normally accompanies Scott on these trips, which began in 2000, but she stayed home to help take care of a family member. The Kellermans also host the annual Batwa Challenge Run/Walk at Pioneer Park. Carol says Scott will be returning home around the first of November.
