After considerable debate and public comment, the Nevada City City Council has selected the company that will run the first marijuana dispensary inside city limits. City staff recommended a group called “Elevation 2477”, but another group called ‘Growing Community’ had gotten most support from over 40 community members who spoke during the Public Comment portion of the meeting. The third finalist, ‘Nevada County Wellness’, also received a lot of community support. Ultimately, Elevation 2477 was chosen by a 3-2 vote, and can open a dispensary January first. The Elevation 2477 dispensary will be located at 590 Searls ave. which was the former Training Center for the South Yuba Club. The city is only allowing one dispensary for a one-year period.
