A Nevada City man has been convicted of multiple charges of lewd and lascivious conduct involving girls under 14. Nevada County District Attorney Cliff Newell says 52-year-old Robert Taylor originally faced 12 counts. The jury found him guilty of 6 counts and not guilty of one count, and were deadlocked regarding the other counts. When Taylor was arrested, he had also been charged with sexual battery by restraint and child molestation. Newell says the jury also found, as true, special allegations of sustained conduct over a number of years. And that means Taylor faces a potential life sentence because there were multiple victims. The trial also had to be moved to a Truckee courtroom because an employee at the courthouse in Nevada City was related to one of the victims. Sentencing for Taylor is scheduled for June 23rd.
