Nevada City Man Pleads To Federal Drug Charges

A 55-year-old Nevada City man has pleaded guilty to drug-related charges in a Federal courtroom in Sacramento. Donald Dugan pleaded to possession with intent to distribute at least 50 grams of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine. The maximum sentence he’s facing is 40 years in prison, a mandatory minimum of 5 years in prison, and a 5-million dollar fine. Sentencing is scheduled for June 17th. According to court documents…in July of 2014, task force officers seized over a pound of methamphetamine at Dugan’s home, along with drug paraphenalia. Also seized was a loaded handgun and ammunition. Dugan was previously convicted of a state felony in 1997 for possession of a controlled substance while carrying a loaded handgun.
