Nevada City Man Runs for State Senate

Nevada City resident Ben Emery is running for the State Senate seat left vacant with the resignation of Republican Doug LaMalfla, a candidate for Congress to represent Northeastern California.
The 42-year-old Emery, a ranch manager and coach for Nevada Union and Pleasant Valley in Penn Valley, lists no party preference in the Nov. 6 election.

Republicans Logue and Nielsen don’t see it that way. Logue contends theĀ  Senate Seat was set up so LaMalfa ally Nielsen could take office, an assertion LaMalfa disputes.
Emery says the dissension among Republicans is what happens with a district long held by the GOP.
