July 10 is the deadline to vote for Nevada City as the Best River Town in Outside Magazine’s national contest. The Nevada County community of 3,000 people is competing against cities including Richmond, Virginia – a region that’s home to more than a million residents.
But the New Mexico-based magazine is looking at more than just numbers. Ryan Krogh, research editor for Outside, says the magazine considers the passion a community has for its river.

The winner…. among ten nominees nationwide… will be on the cover of Outside Magazine’s October issue. To vote, go to the publication’s Facebook page…where Krogh says Nevada City supporters are letting everyone know why the Yuba River deserves recognition.
The magazine’s October issue will be out in early September.
