Nevada City has hired a new man to head their police department while they continue to look for a permanent leader. After the Nevada City City Council concluded their closed session last night, they announced that Scott Berry has been named interim police chief. Brennan replaces James Wickham, who has been told by the California Public Employees Retirement System that he cannot remain as Nevada City’s chief, because he is a retiree and already drawing a pension. Berry is also a retiree, so he can only serve on an interim basis. Brennan says Berry will have input on who the permanent replacement will be, and so will Wickham…
Brennan says a permanent replacement should be named in 60 to 90 days. Berry will start October 1, which is Tuesday.
