Nevada City has begun the process to place a measure on the ballot this year that would increase sales tax in the city. City Manager Mark Prestwich says the city council approved the first step at their meeting last week…
The tax would be three eighths of a cent, and would fund three firefighters and a police officer. Ultimately, Prestwich says it will be up to the voters to decide in November…
Prestwich says the council picked November instead of the June election because they expect a higher turnout, and there also could be new members on the council by then. The measure would need a two-thirds vote to pass.
