Nevada City Sales Tax Increase Passes

Measure L,   Nevada City’s three-eighths percent sales tax increase to raise $290 thousand dollars a year for five years passed handily with seventy-five percent of the voters saying “yes”.  Measure L will increase the sales tax in Nevada City from 7.78 percent to 8.25 percent.

Police, Fire and Public Works will be the beneficiaries of the additional revenue created by the tax increase. Director of Public Works, Verene Taylor says the extra reserves will provide his department with funds to do some needed infrastructure work.
