Meanwhile, Nevada City continues to wait on a grant application which would bring funding to add additional firefighters to fill that third shift, but they won’t know if they’ll get the grant for a few more months. Andersen was hoping that Nevada County Consolidated would continue to staff the station until then, but says she did not get the response she was hoping for…
Consolidated will officially leave Station 54 on April 19, and the first two-day closure will happen on April 23. The plan to close the station will officially be presented to the City Council tonight, but no vote will have to be taken to approve it.
