It’s an idea that has worked elsewhere, and now Nevada City is thinking about trying it. The issue of a ‘hotel investment incentive program’ will be discussed by the City Council at its meeting tonight…
City Manager Mark Prestwich says the five hotels that are big enough would require a minimum investment of ten thousand dollars per room along with an average of 15-thousand dollars per room for property improvements on site. Prestwich says both the city and the hotel would end up benefiting in the long run…
Also, the tourists who visit would enjoy the improvements and would likely either stay longer, come back to visit again, or tell their friends. The first reading of an ordinance to establish the program will be tonight, and will include public comment. The meeting begins at 6:30 at City Hall.
