The Nevada City Police Department is hoping to be able to arm their officers with tasers. Police Chief Tim Foley will be asking for about a dozen of them at tonight’s City Council meeting. Foley says the stun guns would provide another choice for his officers other than potentially lethal force…

The tasers would cost about 11-thousand dollars. Also on tonight’s City Council agenda, another 11-thousand dollars for the Police Department to fund foot patrols downtown, the first reading of an amended dog ordinance, the second reading of an ordinance re-defining a hotel for transit occupancy tax purposes, and a review of proposed seating at Robinson Plaza. Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:30 at City Hall.
