While Nevada City commemorated the re-organization of the City Council, and the installation of Duane Strawser as mayor, last night’s meeting was also the last one for City Manager Mark Prestwich. Prestwich was honored by the Council for his over three years of service. For Prestwich, he has worked in city government in various places for the last several years, but this was his first City Manager position…
During his tenure, he was responsible for organizing a measure to put before the voters to keep the fire station open, and also organized the ‘Park Easy Nevada City plan’, came up with a re-investment idea for the city’s hotels, and dealt with air b-and-b’s and an ordinance permitting a marijuana dispensary. Prestwich moves on to become the City Manager of Saint Helena, in Napa County, and says that city has its own challenges…
Prestwich will finish out the week in Nevada City, including some meetings today. He starts his new job on Monday.
