Nevada Co Clerk-Recorder Supports Voter Roll Bill

A bill that supporters say would help keep voter lists in California’s counties more up-to-date has the support of Nevada County’s Clerk-Recorder. The measure has been introduced by former Nevada County State Senator Jim Nielsen. He says under the current online registration process, the computer system allows anyone with a drivers’ license, who self-certifies that they are eligible, to register. And with noncitizens now granted special licenses, they may not understand that the process may unintentionally register them. He says his bill would prevent the Secretary of State from approving registration of these people. Clerk-Recorder Greg Diaz says the legislation is on the right track…

Diaz also says he doesn’t think there are many people, if any, who are illegal voters in Nevada County.
