The unemployment rate for Nevada County continues to show the usual decline for this time of year. At 4-point-7 percent for September, it IS the lowest rate since October of 2007. That’s also a half-point drop from August and a 1-point-2 point improvement from a year ago. Luis Alejo, at the local Employment Development Office, says the biggest increase in jobs is where you would expect it…the government sector…
Overall, Alejo says the labor force in Nevada County hasn’t actually changed much in the last year…
And for the third straight month, Nevada County has the 15th lowest jobless rate among the 58 counties. Looking at other counties…Placer County ranks 11th. And the five counties with the lowest rates are all in or near the Bay Area: San Mateo has the lowest, followed by Marin, San Francisco, Napa, and Santa Clara. Imperial County has the highest rate.
