The jobless rate for Nevada County is still among the lowest, ranking 15th among California’s 58 counties for July. But it did go up half-a-point, from June, to 5-point-6 percent. However…Luis Alejo, at the local State Employment Development Office, says that’s normal for the summertime…
Meanwhile, the biggest job GROWTH sector is also considered seasonal. Alejo says there was an increase of 310 jobs that are classifed by the Department as “Leisure and Hospitality”…
But Alejo says the TOTAL number of jobs in the county dropped by 910 over the previous month, to 30-thousand-430. Meanwhile, California’s jobless rate fell by just a-tenth of a point from June to July, to 6-point-2 percent. Statewide, there’s been an increase of over 494-thousand jobs in the last year, with the Professional and Business Services sector posting the largest number.
