A long-range outlook regarding California’s transportation system has been released by Cal Trans. Called “California Transportation Plan 2040”, the agency says it provides recommendations for how the state can move toward its greenhouse gas reduction targets and achieve the vision for a fully-integrated, multimodal, and sustainable system that enhances the economy, as well as livability. The Executive Director of the Nevada County Transportation Commission, Dan Landon says it focuses too much on laudable, but less effective goals, such as more bicycling, pedestrian mobility, and public transit. Meanwhile, he says 750-million dollars has been delayed, or deleted, regarding highway improvement projects…
Meanwhile, Landon is part of a panel today (Thurs.) that will provide input on the update of the state’s five-year regional transportation improvement plan, which includes funding for projects. Landon says he’s concerned about delays to finishing upgrades of the Highway 49 corridor…
Landon says he’s also participating in Cal Trans motorist user tax pilot project, as a way to make up for years of decreasing gas tax revenue for highway improvements.
